    Review:
A knowledge of literary terms will help students become more involved with the literature they read and even help them in their own creative writing. This A to Z video guide covers over 80 terms from allegory to zeugma (a figure of speech in which one word governs a series of succeeding words) in a relatively short amount of time. Live-action shots of high school students reading or in the classroom appear throughout the video. For most terms, a graphic with the definition is shown followed by an example from a classic literary piece such as Beowolf or Taming of the Shrew. More attention is given to a few terms such as ?conflict? which can be subdivided into person vs. person, person vs. society, and so on. Most valuable are the visual examples that serve to reinforce the vocabulary and help bring relevance to the term. This video will be most useful used in conjunction with the online teacher?s guide or a handout of terms so that students do not need to take notes as they watch.
