Review: | "Albeit briefly stated, there is a lot of basic information here on what is required to become fiscally responsible. A voice-over narration and lively vignettes do a fine job of presenting and illustrating the content. One of the major topics is learning to budget, which includes separating essential from optional expenses. Going into debt for indispensable items, like a car, is reasonable, but running up debts for frivolous purchases can cause serious problems. There are suggestions about shopping wisely, including buying second hand items. Another segment explains the value of using credit cards prudently. The narrator explains how to compare cards by reading their documentation and understanding that credit companies use late payment fees, minimum payments, and interest rates to make their money. There's also information on the importance of saving and investing. Debt Stress can be used with entire classes to introduce a unit on money management as well as by individual students."
