Review: | "Set in a commercial kitchen, this concise and thorough production emphasizes the importance of a positive attitude and using safe practices to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen. Actors are shown in well-staged and well-photographed scenes performing routine kitchen tasks in safe and unsafe manners while a narrator points out the ways to avoid injuries. The actors have no dialogue except for exclamations, groans and shrieks as "injuries" occur, such as falls, cuts, a garbage disposal mishap, and hair caught in a slicing machine. The latter is probably the most startling because, although the injury is not shown, the actor's head jerking toward the machine and her shriek should prevent any viewer from allowing long hair to come near a slicing machine! Thoroughly covering dress and hygiene, falls and slips, fires and burns, the safe operation of machinery and implements, and safe practices and procedures, this program conveys the information efficiently and will hold viewers' attention. A worthwhile purchase for school collections supporting home economics and culinary studies and for public libraries where there is an interest in the subject."
