Review: | Gr 7-12 - "The first video explores several of the anxiety disorders which affect 13% of Americans including panic disorder, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Causes of anxiety are explored with brief recommendations about seeking help. The second video focuses on depression and suicide, noting that suicide is the third leading cause of teen death in the United States. Different types of depression are outlined including clinical and bipolar disorder. Symptoms of depression and warning signs of suicide are listed. Some strategies for dealing with depression and anxiety are provided, but viewers are strongly encouraged to seek professional help. Various adult narrators provide information as vignettes are acted by a multiethnic young adult cast. Animated sequences and captions further help to illustrate and reinforce concepts and new information or terms. These videos provide solid introductory information that would be useful in life skills, health, and psychology classes, especially as a basis for further classroom research or discussion."
